The primary objective of the Sales Director is to lead a team of front-line sales managers and drive consistent results and performance across the country sales teams. You will oversee a group of sales managers who in turn manage quota bearing client managers across a number of industry verticals. By providing a strong and influential executive presence, you will shape and drive the execution of the strategy and build Dimension Data’s presence in the market.

The Sales Director has limited interaction with buyers but in instances where these interactions do occur, it will be at higher altitude levels in the account and will likely be of a strategic nature

What you'll be doing

  1. Take responsibility for managing a team of client managers.
  2. Execute the sales strategy by making decisions that influence people, process and technology.
  3. Mentor, coach and provide leadership with the objective of enabling sales managers to meet their assigned targets and objectives.
  4. Provide input into the development of the tactical strategy as well as develop and implement a supporting operational strategy.
  5. Take ownership of the full sales process and contribute to the pre-sales process as required.
  6. Enforce and track the execution of client account plans, call planning and opportunity qualification, providing support and remedial action.
  7. Be involved in the details of sales kick-off planning to ensure that the kick-off focuses on celebrating buyer success and improving business acumen and buyer empathy across sales, support, consulting and services teams.
  8. Scrutinise and optimise the value contribution of people, process and technology along the buyer’s journey over the course of the relationship.
  9. Manage a team of client managers, implementing people resource planning in line with delivery and performance objectives and in partnership with specialised areas.
  10. Provide advice and guidance to the team about clients and share examples of client success and failure to help drive improvements in both enablement and the product itself.

What would make you a good fit for this role?

This role is a combination of management, selling, coaching and leadership activities. You should display strong motivational qualities to inspire your team to achieve consistently outstanding sales performance. You must also have the business acumen and strategic planning skills to define the local go-to-market approach and to determine the team’s sales quotas.
