I’m Bao Khanh. I am from Ha Noi, the capital city of Viet Nam. I have graduated from a Master of Commerce - Professional Accounting major at the University of Queensland and Bachelor of Commerce - Finance major from Griffith University. It’s my honor to be appointed as one of 40 Brisbane International Student Ambassadors from 36 countries in 2017 by the Lord Mayor of Brisbane- Brisbane City Council. I am currently working for Spring Financial Group – Head Office in Sydney.

When I was in high school, I want to be a global citizen and want to learn valuable experience and knowledge in developed countries so studying aboard is the first step to make my dream comes true. Studying abroad in Brisbane, Australia is a milestone in my life and the Brisbane International Student Ambassador Program was a precious chance, opening many new doors for me to learn, perfect myself and network with talented people.

After finishing 2 years studying in HELP University in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, I decided to transfer to Griffith University - which is a top 50 University in the world - to complete my Bachelor degree. I have a passion for accounting and finance industry and I am determined to build a long- term career in this field. Therefore, after graduating from my Bachelor degree at Griffith University, I chose The University or Queensland, which is one of Top 8 Universities in Australia, to study a Master’s degree. The teaching quality at UQ is excellent, with prestigious professors presenting realistic and updated study contents. In addition, there are many working integrated learning courses that help students to gain real experience before graduating that can really make your resume stand out.

The University of Queensland and Griffith University usually organize employment events to create chances for students to meet employers and mentors to prepare for their future career. I never stopped finding opportunities from the first year at university to gain broad working knowledge of accounting and the finance field and to work on perfecting my communication, interpersonal and transferable skills through internships and volunteer experience in Big 4 companies, not-for-profit and government organizations. With my continuous efforts, I got a job offer at Spring Financial Group Head Office in Sydney. I really love the job I am doing now, company culture, working environment and my colleagues that exactly what I expect.

I understand that all international students and their parent make a “big investment” when they decide on studying abroad. Graduating from reputable universities and getting professional job offers in Australia is a long and not easy journey, there will always be challenges but if you know what you really want, your targets, you will find a way to make it.
